Pregnant women with type 1 diabetes had increased risk for adverse events with increased HbA1c levels.

In this study, researchers sought to assess the relationship between second and third trimester glycemic control and adverse outcomes in women with type 1 diabetes. Currently, there is uncertainty about what glycemic targets are best in this patient population. 

Specifically, they evaluated pregnancy outcomes and HbA1c values at different points during pregnancy in women with type 1 diabetes. 

The results allowed the researchers to further characterize the relationship between HbA1c and pregnancy and neonatal outcomes in these women.
